About Academy of Scuba- Melbourne's Premier Dive Shops

Academy of Scuba was established in 2002 in Glen Iris, Melbourne. In 2004 it became Aquatic Adventures- Glen Iris as part of the Aquatic Adventures franchise of shops. In 2007 this little dive shop in Melbourne was purchased by Kat and Trav and became a family owned and loved business.  

In 2009 we decided to become one of Melbourne's premier independent dive shops so that we could stand out of the crowd and offer the best service possible. We then went back to our roots, renaming our dive shop as Academy of Scuba in May 2009. With over 130 people attending the formal night at the back of the shop, the re-launch of the shop was a massive success.

In March 2010 we opened Academy of Scuba- Rye giving us a dive shop right on the waters edge, 100m away from Rye Pier.

Our divers are our family and and with such a passion and expertise this  dive shop has been able to grow with our divers and offer more and more each year to all of Melbourne's divers.  Our dive shop means the world to us, and so do our divers.

Since its opening Academy of Scuba has evolved to be the premier dive shop in Melbourne and in Victoria. A finalist out of over 1000 dive centres in the PADI Asia Pacific region for the Most Outstanding Dive Centre in 2008 and regional winners in 2009 & 2010, we strive to give you the best experiences, customer service, training and a huge amount of fun, while we help you grow as a Scuba diver and give you the best underwater experiences we can in Melbourne.

We have the highest calibre instructors.  Through our internships, and though the feedback of our customers and past students, we keep only the best instructional staff and divemasters.  We listen to our customers needs and have tailored our dive operations to cater to these, so you can expect the best.

We pride ourselves on having one of the most active social clubs for any dive shop in Melbourne and we encourage you to get involved. Come along on any Thursday nights at the Glen Iris shop and Friday nights at our Rye shop, for our weekly social night and meet heaps of divers, and new friends from all around Melbourne.  You don't even have to bring anything to the shop apart from yourself.  We supply the food and the drinks.  Don't take our word for it.  Come into the shop and see for yourself.  There is always a coffee or a drink with your name on it in the shop.
