Naturally adventurous person, optimistic, outgoing and can be a little loud at times (apparently)
My diving life started on one of my many backpacking adventures when I was faced with the question, “What is there to do in Borneo?” It seemed as though the obvious answer was scuba diving (thanks internet) so like most things I jumped straight into it. I completed my open water and advanced open water courses and all it took was 1 week diving for me to fall irrevocably in love with the ocean and the beautiful mysteries that are below it.
Having grown up in country Queensland I had always considered scuba diving to be a ‘holiday’ sport, something you did only when you were visiting a diving hotspot.
Much to my delight I soon realised that you could dive in Melbourne, and that there was actually something to see out there as well! After researching many of the Melbourne diving clubs I fell into the family of Academy of Scuba. AOS’s large membership base means you will never be without a buddy for diving or left solo when heading to the pub for a wind down beer afterward.
My favourite dive site is Castle Rock. On a nice day, this site is spectacular and I am always lucky to get a surprise when I am out there, whether it be port jacksons or dolphins. I have had the pleasure of diving 2 international hotspots so far and have fallen in love with them both. The first was in Borneo diving Sipadan Island and the second in Vanuatu diving the Coolidge wreck.
Divemastering on open water courses is rewarding as I love to see the joy that diving gives so many people and thrive on the experience and sometimes challenge of helping teach new divers..
I wont deny it, diving is an addiction for me, I hope I will see you in the water soon as I’d love to show you why.
