PADI Underwater Navigation Course

After correct buoyancy control, underwater navigation is the most important skill that any diver can master. Scuba divingprint_info.jpg needs navigation to get the most out of any dive site you visit. Through practice, and some great tips from your instructor you will be able navigate anywhere.

Day one- Underwater Navigator Theory Evening. Analyse the techniques that you will be using during your practical dives. Learn about different forms of navigation, and how to accurately use your diving environment and your compass.

Day two- Ocean Dives Over 3 dives you will perform the following skills so that you can master underwater navigation.
  • Land practice with compass.
  • Distance/Time-Estimation swim.
  • Navigate straight-line/reciprocal underwater using natural navigation techniques.
  • Navigate straight-line/reciprocal underwater using a compass.
  • Navigate a square pattern. underwater using a compass.
  • Multiple-leg compass course (five or more heading changes), Fix a specific underwater location.
  • Navigate a course underwater following marker headings ( five or more heading changes)
  • Map the marked course on a grid slate.

Prerequisites for the PADI Navigation Course-

Padi open water diver certification (or junior) and or equivelent certification from another training agency.

Mask, snorkel, boots, fins, knife, torch, slate, reel, compass.

Divers: At this level of training it is recommended that you are diving in your own scuba unit, as it is the best way for you to fine-tune your buoyancy. However if you do not have your own, rental is available.
