PADI Rescue diver course

The PADI Rescue Diver Course with Academy of Scuba

Challenge yourself and take the next step.

Learn to prevent and manage diver emergencies for yourself and others with Academy of Scuba. We combine the Rescue Diver Course with the Emergency Oxygen Provider Course  for complete emergency management and equipment skills, putting you in control.

Comprehensive Training

Academy of Scuba includes the Emergency Oxygen Provider Course as standard in our Rescue Diver course package. This gives you complete emergency management and equipment skills so that you’re in control in a diver emergency.

Practice Makes Perfect

It is important to allow time to practice until rescue skills are second nature and you are confident. On Academy of Scuba’s Rescue Diver course you will have ample time to hone the essential rescue skills. We offer group workshops to learn to recognize problems before they arise, so that you enjoy diving more.

Stay Sharp

Rescue skills are use it or lose it – and although we hope you never have to use them, if you do they will need to be sharp. That is why Academy of Scuba offers post-course rescue practice sessions, so you can keep your skills sharp and handle diver emergencies better, if they occur. Just speak to staff after your Rescue Diver course for more information.

What You Learn

The PADI Rescue Diver course prepares you to deal with dive emergencies, minor and major, using a variety of techniques. Through knowledge development and rescue exercises, you learn what to look for and how to respond. During rescue scenarios, you put into practice your knowledge and skills. Topics include:

Self rescue

Recognizing and managing stress in other divers

Emergency management and equipment

Rescuing panicked divers

Rescuing unresponsive divers

We practice these skills extensively so that if you are to ever find yourself in a situation where you need to use them, they will come naturally. At the end of this course you will not only find yourself a far more confident diver, able to not only look out for yourself, but look out for other divers as well. N.B. The Rescue Diver certification is also a pre-requisite for becoming a Master Scuba Diver – the highest non-professional PADI rating – or a PADI Divemaster – the first professional scuba certification.
