Exploration, Excitement, Experiences. They're what the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course is all about. And no, you don't have to be “advanced” to take it – it's designed so you can go straight into it after the PADI Open Water Diver course.
The Advanced Open Water Diver course helps you increase your confidence and build your scuba skills so you can become more comfortable in the water. This is a great way to get more dives under your belt while continuing to learn under the supervision of your PADI Instructor. This course builds on what you've learned and develops new capabilities by introducing you to new activities and new ways to have fun scuba diving.
You'll hone your skills by completing five adventure dives that introduce you to:
The above dives that are conducted on this course are dive 1 of the specialty course. This means that you get a snap shot into these forms of diving. With over 15 specialty courses to choose from, we have selected the dives that best benefit all divers on thier Advanced course and complement the type of diving we get in Victoria. Other adventure dives are possible with private tuition.

To start this course, you will need to complete a divers medical questionnaire. If you have any 'yes' answers, you'll need to book a recreational diving medical with a diving doctor. These can be found here.
The knowledge and skills you get in the Advanced Open Water Diver course vary with your interest and the adventures you have, but include:
You use all the basic scuba gear including your underwater compass. Specific equipment requirements are compulsory for the course as outlined above. Although hire equipment is availible at an extra cost, to get the maximum benefit from this course, we recommend that at this level of diving you should have all of your own equipment. PADI's Adventures in Diving Manual provides information on more than 15 types of specialty diving.You'll use them as a guidebook to improve your diving skills and prepare for new experiences and adventures however you will only be required to study 7 of these chapters. Read the others at your leisure.
